Beyond Perfect: Sarah & Matt’s Special Day Done Their Way

Sarah & Matt are familiar faces at L’Nique headquarters. You’ve seen them busy working with clients helping them prepare their beautiful events. But, this day was all for them! We couldn’t be more happy for this amazing couple, and we are grateful to have them in our L’Nique family.

The couple was very specific about the day they wanted. The term “micro-wedding” is considered a small-scale wedding ceremony and reception typically characterized by a limited guest count and intimate and personalized celebration. For Sarah & Matt, this meant creating an event for themselves and their three beautiful children.

To Sarah & Matt, we hope your lives together are as blissful as your beautiful wedding day!

xoxo, Team L’Nique

Journal of a Micro-Wedding: Small Wedding Full of Big Celebrations

“It was beyond perfect. I am biased but it was one the most elaborate micro-weddings I have ever seen, and it happened to be mine.”

How it started…

“The kids shared a hotel room, so in the morning, Matt and I ordered room service, had breakfast in bed and just had a slow, lazy morning together.”

Getting ready…

“Once hair and makeup arrived, we parted ways, and the time flew by. The boys got on the bus and headed to Sapphire Creek, and then the bus came back for me and Paige.”

Angela and Wendy (L’Nique) were my pseudo planners/coordinators and they were running around setting everything up. Meghan and Danielle (Sapphire) were also an amazing help with our setup and execution of the day.”

The ceremony…

“The ceremony was at Sapphire Creek. The lights hanging from the trees with the golden hour sun made it the perfect backdrop. Blooms (floral) went above and beyond. I knew they would, but it was better than I had ever planned. I told Arne to just “surprise” me and even though I still had to sign off on a concept beforehand, it was still better than I even imagined.

We had a live guitarist play during our processional, and we incorporated the kids in the ceremony by having them pass our rings and make a wish for our family. For a unity ceremony, we incorporated a handwashing ceremony.”

The celebration…

“After the ceremony, we had champagne, unburied the bourbon (a Sapphire Creek nod to the tradition) and had our first dance (in another spot of the venue) with a live singer. Josh is the most amazing singer/guitar player.

For dinner, I wanted the table to be full of candles and Angela and Wendy nailed it. We joke there were a million candles in there. They set the entire table up. As many times as I changed my mind on the linen, I ended up coming back to the first linen I ever picked out, before I even worked at L’Nique. The linen that started it all! (Blissful)

The kids had their dinner with us while we enjoyed our appetizers, they had some cake, and then they went home, and Matt and I had a private dinner just the two of us by candlelight.”

A little Q&A with the Bride

How did you choose the parts of your perfect day?

“Being engaged for so long, I changed my mind A LOT. I kept getting all these ideas, and inspiration and I wanted to do something unique that hadn’t been done before. I think I changed my table scape and floral inspiration at least once a week. Being around it daily, it was fun to think of new looks and designs. I wanted it to feel like a styled shoot, but with a real wedding, and I wanted something no one had done before.”

How did you meet your husband?

“Before I was in the event world, I was in the retail world. Matt and I met there. It was a fluke that I was sent to one of his stores for the month to help out, otherwise we would have never met. We had always planned on a long engagement; we got engaged on Valentine’s Day 2020.”

Tell me about Sapphire Creek.

About 4 months before our wedding date, we had dinner at Sapphire Creek. We had always been fans of Sapphire Creek. We were walking around after dinner and just fell in love with the way it “felt” there. It felt like we were at a local winery in California, far away from Ohio. I looked at Matt and said “ I wish we could get married here” and he told me “ I would change everything to get married here”. The next day I was on the phone, and within days we had changed our entire plan and moved it all to Sapphire Creek.”

Many L’Nique customers recognize you and Matt. Could you tell me a little about why you came to LNique to work?

“I was in L’Nique looking for linens for my wedding. At that time, our venue was somewhere different, and I was trying to find a linen that would work for the space were planning at the time. Wendy, Deidre, Angela, and I all got to talking that day, as well as the days after and the rest is history.”
